Arts and Sciences Provincial Council holds Kultura Fridays

In celebration of the National Indigenous People’s Month, CPU College of Arts and Sciences Provincial Council holds Kultura Fridays: Tingog sang CASimanwa with the theme Katututbong Filipino: Atin ang Tagumpay!
This event consists of a Singing and Spoken Poetry contests that aims to highlight how our indigenous brothers and sisters manifest their optimism, views and practices or strategies of prevailing in the midst of adversities.
Initially the deadline of entries for the Singing Contest was on October 20, 2021. However, it was extended until October 27, 2021 which shares the deadline of entries for spoken poetry.
Nefertari Alavata of BS Biology 1 emerged as the champion while also bagging the People’s Choice Award for the Singing Contest. Jarish Pear Labajo of BS Psychology 2 was declared runner up for the same category.
The event was judged by Ma’am Crista Sianson-Huyong, the Coordinator of CPU Cultural Affairs Office and Music Department.
The Indigenous People’s Month is celebrated annually on October by virtue of Proclamation No. 1906, s. 2009 which commemorates the signing of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act on 29 October 1997.
