CPU College of Arts and Sciences’ Dean Garner Awards From UMRCI 2021
On 16th of July 2021, the UNIFFIED (United Federation of Filipino and
Filipino-American Educators) Multidisciplinary Research Conference International
awarded Dr. Stella G. Fernandez, Dean of the CPU College of Arts and Sciences, 2nd
place in the Best Paper Award in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
(STEM) for their paper “Medicinal and Phytochemical Properties of Selected Herbal
Plants in Central China and Western Visayas, Philippines” during its 2021 UNIFFIED
International Virtual Summit USA.
With the year’s Virtual Summit theme “Empowering Educators for the Challenges
of the 21st Century,” Dr. Stella G. Fernandez was also awarded 1st place in the Best
Presenter Award for her remarkable and noteworthy performance in presenting their
work.
The UNIFFIED Multidisciplinary Research Conference International (UMRCI)
2021 Committee is made up of Filipino-American educators, including the Summit
Chairman and Professional Development Director, Maximo Gimeno, Jr., EdD
(California, USA); the Summit Co-Chair, Roel Palo Anicas DA, EdD (Ilocos Sur,
Philippines); the Summit Adviser, Edgardo Dacpano, MAEd (Texas, USA); and the
UNIFFIED Founding Chairman, Paraluman Castañeda (New Jersey, USA).
The research was done in collaboration between Central Philippine University
and Zhengzhou University of Industrial Technology (ZUIT) in Henan, China. Dr. Stella
Fernandez’s participation in the UNIFFIED Multidisciplinary Research Conference
International (UMRCI), which she co-authored with Dr. Nicolas G. Guanzon, Head of
Central Philippine University’s Life Science Department, was deeply acknowledged by
the university and the whole College of Arts and Sciences.
Her enthusiasm for knowledge highlighted the innovation in science that is
changing the conversation. As she captured the excitement that people bring to the
world of science every day, everyone is inspired to see where Dr. Stella Fernandez will
take us.
